SOTCOT Presentation

The journal Les Archives de l'Institut Pasteur de Tunis (Archs. Inst. Pasteur Tunis) is a biannual publication of the Institut Pasteur de Tunis. Founded in 1906 by CHARLES NICOLLE (Director of the Institut Pasteur de Tunis from 1903 to 1936 and Nobel Prize laureate in Medicine in 1928 for his work on typhus), it is an indexed medical journal that celebrated its centenary in 2006.

The journal focuses on disseminating research across all fields of biology, with a particular emphasis on fundamental and applied research concerning the Maghreb region in disciplines related to Pasteurian sciences. It aims to facilitate the dissemination and exchange of scientific knowledge at institutional, national, and international levels, contributing to the valorization of research and the advancement of scientists in their careers. The publication of the journal was suspended from January 1942 to December 1954.

Since then, it has continued to be published annually as a volume comprising four issues. Starting in 1999, reports on the operations of the various services of the institute are no longer published in Archs. Inst. Pasteur Tunis. As a recognized scientific reference, the journal publishes articles in French and English, all subjected to a peer review process. It relies on the expertise of national (Pasteurian or regional) and international reviewers. The journal is open access and maintains an ongoing call for manuscripts, inviting contributions from the scientific community in the following categories: Original Articles, Editorials, General Reviews, Letters to the Editor, Short Communications, and Updates.

In addition to its regular issues, the journal publishes special issues compiling abstracts of oral and poster presentations related to Pasteurian scientific events. Examples include issues dedicated to the centenary of the Institut Pasteur de Tunis (Volume 71-1994), the centenary of the journal (Volume 83-2006), the proceedings of the 4th INSERM North-South Network meeting (Volume 72-1995), the Franco-Tunisian Parasitology Days (Volume 87-2010), the 2nd Franco-Maghreb Parasitology-Mycology Days (2nd JFMPM, October 28-31) (Volume 92-2015), and more recently, the 1st and 2nd Young Researchers' Colloquium of the IPT (CJC), held on December 8-9 (Volume 92(2016)) and April 18-20 (Volume 95(1-2)(2018)), respectively.

The readership of Archs. Inst. Pasteur Tunis primarily consists of scientists affiliated with institutions, universities, and libraries, both nationally and internationally. The journal is distributed through subscriptions and exchange agreements with other journals received by the IPT library, as well as with national and international publishing houses.

To enhance its international visibility, Pasteurian articles published in Archs. Inst. Pasteur Tunis are deposited on the Hal-RIIP platform, which enables online submission of scientific work from the Pasteur Institutes network. Additionally, all articles published in the journal are stored in the new documentary management application of the library (PMB).
