Recommendations for Authors

The Archives de l'Institut Pasteur de Tunis publish, after acceptance by the Editorial Committee, research in fundamental or applied biological sciences related to the Maghreb, particularly Tunisia. Publications may appear under the following sections:

I- ORIGINAL WORKS

A- Original Articles
Articles covering all fields of biology, with a particular focus on fundamental and applied research in Pasteurian disciplines. Articles will be evaluated based on their scientific quality and contribution to a better understanding of biological systems. They must not exceed 20 typed pages.

B- Letter to the Editor
Critical correspondence regarding a previous publication in the Archives de l'Institut Pasteur de Tunis, possibly sharing the correspondent’s personal experience. It must not exceed two typed pages.

C- Short Communication
A note intended to report a significant original result. It must not exceed five typed pages.

D- Technical Note
An update (improvement, enhancement, simplification) of a technique based on the authors' personal experience. It must not exceed two typed pages.

II- OTHER PUBLICATIONS

Articles commissioned by the Editorial Committee of the Archives de l'Institut Pasteur de Tunis, appearing under the following sections:

A- Editorial
A position paper on a current and particularly important topic, not exceeding two typed pages.

B- General Review
A review summarizing the current state of knowledge on a topic proposed by the Editorial Committee. It must not exceed 15 typed pages.

III- FORUM

A- Scientific News
Significant scientific developments reported in the literature and/or recent scientific events.

B- Reports
Reports, proceedings, and accounts of seminars and scientific events, particularly those related to the Pasteurian community.

IV- GENERAL PRESENTATION OF ARTICLES

A- Manuscript

The text, written in English or French, must be typed double-spaced on A4 format, single-sided.

Page One must include:

  • The title in both French and English.
  • A short running title (3-4 words).
  • Affiliations.
  • Indication of the corresponding author.
  • Keywords in both French and English.

Page Two must contain the abstract in both French and English, each not exceeding 15 typed lines.

Page Three and the following pages must include the text organized as follows:

  • Introduction
  • Materials and Methods
  • Results
  • Discussion
  • Acknowledgments
  • References

B- Illustrations

Tables must be numbered in Roman numerals, and figures in Arabic numerals, following their order of appearance in the text.
For figures, orientation (top, bottom, right, left) must be indicated on the back. Only original figures in three copies will be accepted.

C- References

In the text, each citation must be followed by a superscript number corresponding to the reference, listed in order of appearance. References must be on separate pages from the manuscript and follow the format below, including:

  • The initials of the authors’ first names followed by their last names.
  • The year of publication (in parentheses).
  • The article title, journal name (using standard abbreviations from Current Contents), volume in bold, issue number, and first and last page numbers of the article.

Examples:
1- J.L. Guénet, H. Jakobo, J.F. Nicolas, and F. Jacob (1974). Teratocarcinoma of the mouse: cytogenetic study of pluripotent cells. Ann. Microbiol. Inst. Pasteur, 125 A, 135-151.

References to books (monographs, treatises, conference proceedings, etc.) must be formatted as follows:
2- A.T. Stone and J.J. Morgan (1990). Kinetics of chemical transformations in the environment. In Aquatic Chemical Kinetics (Edited by Stumm W.), Ch.1, pp.1-42. Wiley-Interscience, New York.

V- GENERAL REMARKS

Manuscripts must be submitted in three copies:

  • One original and two high-quality copies, along with a digital version on a floppy disk or CD-ROM.
  • A cover letter addressed to the Editor-in-Chief of the Archives de l'Institut Pasteur de Tunis at:
    13, Place Pasteur, B.P. 74, 1002 Tunis-Belvédère, Tunisia.

The cover letter must be signed by the corresponding author, stating that all co-authors have read and approved the manuscript submission and confirming that the manuscript has not been and will not be submitted to another journal.

Incomplete manuscripts or those not following these guidelines will not be considered.
Submitted articles will not be returned. The Editorial Committee reserves the right to reject submissions. The opinions expressed in publications are solely the responsibility of the authors.
